The Hen House Have you ever seen a Hen House? It is a bunch of chickens running around in circles cackling and fussing, in a disorganized manner. The cacophony is maddening. Growing up in a family of thirteen kids, living in a rural area in the 1940's & 50's portrays that Hen House, with a lot of cackling and fussing, and very little order. It does, however, allow for some interesting, and sometimes humorous anecdotes, which have been put together in this book of short stories. Why the reference to a Hen House? Of the thirteen kids in question eleven were "Hens", with the two "Roosters" totally outnumbered. The "Hens" virtually ruled the roost, often with unpredictable results. You are invited to read of tales from the Hen House, which you may be able to identify with in your lives, or at least, will give you a comical insight into life in a large family. |
